Section E - Discipline

Playing Rules

Rule No. 1 Game Suspension Policy

The M.O.H.A. operates under the auspices of Hockey Canada, the O.H.F. and the O.M.H.A. and is therefore governed by their rules.

Specifically as it relates to game suspension infractions, the M.O.H.A. uses the O.H.F. / O.M.H.A. suspension list as a guideline for related offences

All game sheets indicating suspensions must be forwarded to the Discipline Chairman/Committee for information, confirmation and tracking purposes. Suspensions limited to one game suspension are not normally subject to review or appeal.

Coaches should understand that any "outstanding" game suspension penalties incurred in Tournament or Exhibition play MUST be reported and served in subsequent league play. Failure to comply may result in additional game(s) suspensions for both the coach and player(s) involved. Any games played with an ineligible player as per the above are also subject to forfeit.

Rule No. 2 Fighting

Any House League player, who, during the current M.O.H.A. season, receives a second major penalty for fighting will be suspended from all further M.O.H.A. hockey until his case is heard before the Discipline Committee.

Rule No. 3 Coach's Discipline

Any Coach, after receiving approval from the Vice-President-House League, Senior Convenor, Convenor and/or Discipline Committee may with due regard to appropriate and consistent team discipline procedures, bench or suspend a player for a pre-determined length of time. Such benching or suspension must be reasonable under the circumstances and clearly understood by the player and, or parent(s).

Rule No. 4 Goalkeeper Suspension

At the discretion of the league convenor, any Goalkeeper who is suspended for the remainder of a "current" game, may be permitted to continue playing as Goalkeeper for the remainder of the game in which the infraction occurred. He / she may serve his suspension starting with the next M.O.H.A. game.

Rule No. 5 Enforcement

It is the responsibility of each League convenor to enforce the foregoing discipline regulations. Under no circumstances shall any deviation in suspensions be permitted by league convenors.
